The Prince Midnight
Good evening! Are you ready to listen to prince Midnight fairy tale? You must be very brave because it is a strange and funny tale, very mysterious but a little bit scary too. Once upon a time there is a prince – I say there is because he is not dead, poor prince – whose name is Midnight, who was born at midnight, and is desperately in love with the dark and the stars – without darkness you cannot see the stars, right? Everybody thinks that darkness protects and hides phantoms, wolves and witches, while the light makes the world wonderful and quiet. It is at night, however, that dreams come to life. But even the sweetest dreams could become nightmares. That happened to our poor prince, forced to hide inside a magic drawer to avoid the curse of the witch Valeriana. The witch Valeriana loved our pale prince so much that she put a curse on him when she felt rejected: if the prince had fallen in love, he would have turned into a monster. You are scared, aren’t you? Immediately prince Midnight, shrunk together with his castle and his servants, sad and lonely waits for someone to break the curse. But what is happening now? Somebody enters the castle? Turmoil, people chasing people, slapping doors, lights on and lights off… it seems the story is beginning. We only have to get in to know the full story, yes, into the drawer – I told you it is magic – don’t be afraid, the prince is very kind, a real gentleman, come on in, please, come on in, it looks like you never got into a drawer…
Prince Midnight is victim of a curse: he is doomed to become a frightening creature if he ever finds true love. To avoid his destiny, he decides to never fall in love, he retires in a smoky manor to live alone, sad and gloomy. A gallery of bizarre and grotesque characters will lead us through the world of this delicate and romantic fairy tale, told in an oddly, mysterious and poetic noir style.
